About the Role
The Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), a leading non-governmental
organization committed to the rights, rehabilitation, and inclusion of persons with disabilities, is
seeking to recruit a strategic and highly ethical Procurement Manager.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Procurement Manager will oversee the end-
to-end supply chain process, providing procurement advisory to the management, ensuring
value for money, cost-efficiency, and strict compliance with procurement policies and regulatory
standards. The successful candidate will drive strategic sourcing, vendor management, and risk
mitigation to support APDK’s operations nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
• Devise effective sourcing strategies, assess market dynamics, and identify reliable, cost-
effective suppliers for products and services.
• Negotiate advantageous terms with external vendors, finalize purchase details, manage supplier
contracts, and conduct proactive risk assessments.
• Execute rigorous pre-engagement due diligence (including verification of CR12, KRA PIN,
Tax Compliance Certificates, site visits, and reference checks).
• Manage complete procurement documentation (Purchase Requisitions, Requests for
Quotations, Bid Evaluations, and Purchase Orders) in strict adherence to APDK’s Procurement
Policy.
• Track key functional metrics, control organizational spending, analyse supply chain data, and
foster a culture of long-term cost saving.
• Work closely with department leads to clarify technical specifications and sensitize internal
stakeholders on procurement protocols.
Qualifications, Experience & Desired Skills:
✓ Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business
Administration, or a related field
✓ 3-5 years of relevant experience especially in NGO world
✓ Membership in a recognized professional body (such as KISM/CIPS) is highly desirable
✓ Demonstrable track record as a Procurement Manager or Supply Chain Lead, preferably
within an NGO, donor-funded, or multi-site organization
✓ Strong hands-on experience using modern ERP systems and procurement software modules
✓ Excellent negotiation talent, strong numerical aptitude, and proven ability in data collection
and analysis
✓ High ethical standards, strong leadership capabilities, and sound decision-making skills
✓ Demonstrated success in budget management, staff mentorship, institutional asset
management
