Brief Job Description
Reporting to the Director of IFRA-Nairobi, you will be responsible for coordinating a scientific and cultural project: “Gen Z” and Political Reconfigurations in Kenya and Uganda? Documenting and Understanding Youth Activism.
Your mission is to coordinate partners and facilitate cross-functional communication across the project’s three components (research and training, policy debates and expertise, archives); to ensure the implementation of activities across all three components; to ensure the delivery of project deliverables; and to manage reporting under the supervision of the IFRA Director.
The project’s objective is to develop action research by training students, fostering the exchange of ideas and media expression, and creating a digitized archive of activist materials in order to understand the nature and forms of political engagement among young people, as well as new frameworks for analysis. Led by FRA-Nairobi, the project brings together the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Makerere University, the British Institute in Eastern Africa, the Rift Valley Institute, the Alliances Françaises, the Mashujaa Archives Center, and the Ukombozi Library.
Main Activities
Your mission is to coordinate partners and facilitate cross-functional communication across the project’s three components (research and training, policy debates and expertise, and archives); to ensure the implementation of activities within these three components; to ensure the delivery of project deliverables; and to manage reporting under the supervision of the FRA director.
Activities are organized around three areas:
Monitoring and Operations
- Draft and monitor grant and service agreements
- Organize steering committee meetings and coordinate partners
- Monitor the activities of the components and deliverables, and ensure reporting Communication
Developing a communication plan
- Implementing the communication plan
- Monitoring and coordinating communication activities across various departments
Reporting and Evaluation
– Drafting activity, technical, and financial reports
Managing the evaluation process with the external service provider

Recommended qualifications or professional experience for the position Must be a Kenyan citizen or hold a valid Kenyan work permit
A Ph.D. in the social sciences and humanities is preferred. Alternatively, a master’s degree in project management and communication with proven experience in project coordination and management, research experience, knowledge of the scientific and cultural environment.
Knowledge of French is a plus.
