SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The mission is seeking to fill a Senior Driver position for the common services program as well as various general services positions that may arise following this selection process.
Under the direct supervision of the Common Services Officer and general supervision of the Deputy Management Consular Officer (DMCO), the Senior Drivers provide transportation, delivery and/or errand services to all mission programs. They provide safe driving services to mission staff including the High Commissioner, program managers, mission staff, and other visitors or dignitaries. They provide courier and logistics services, arrange for vehicle maintenance and cleaning, undertake vehicle administrative duties, and may additionally support the mission by assisting with supervision of contractors, basic administrative, protocol, maintenance and other support services following established mission and departmental policies.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Education
This position requires:
- A diploma or degree from a legally recognized post secondary institution

Language
The Following languages and proficiency levels are required for this job. Candidates will be formally assessed or requested to provide proof of certification on these levels.
- An advanced proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in English.
- An intermediate proficiency level (reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking) in Swahili.
Experience
In order to perform the duties relevant to this job, the following experience is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years recent* and consecutive professional driving experience as a chauffeur and/or driver.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last five (5) years.
Competencies
All competencies will be assessed. All competencies must be met prior to appointment.
- Advanced knowledge of Kenyan driving rules and regulations.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Applications may iclude Outlook, Excel and/or Word).

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.
- Ability to communicate efficiently (reading, writing, comprehension, speaking) in French.
- Recent experience operating an armoured vehicle.
- Recent experience in motor vehicle maintenance and repairs in a professional capacity.
- Experience working with collaborative online tools such as SharePoint and MS Teams.
- Experience using fleet management software.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Operational requirements will be assessed on a ‘meet/does not meet’ basis and can be used to determine right fit of a candidate for the position.
- Hours of Work: Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 45 hours hours per week. Ability and willingness to work shifts as determined by the employer is required for the position.
- Overtime: Ability and willingness to work overtime (evenings and weekends) on short notice.
- Travel: This position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and within the region.
- Physical Capacity: The work requires operating a vehicle and sitting for extended periods and may require lifting parcels, boxes, luggage, goods and/or equipment.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position. They are to be maintained throughout the employment period.
- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.
- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada.
- Drivers Licence: Must possess and maintain a valid permanent Kenyan drivers license.
- Medical Screening: Ability to meet the medical requirements as defined by the employer. Successful candidate(s) may be required to undergo a medical evaluation.
