This position is responsible for managing contract preparation and review, related
documentation, and providing legal advice to management on the appropriate
course of action.
Key duties and responsibilities:
1. Draft legal contractual documents and ensure they are compliant with CPF
policies.
2. Protect CPF’s intellectual property to prevent loss/infringement by third
parties through trademarks, copyrights, patents, and other appropriate
safeguards.
3. Oversee and ensure adherence and compliance to corporate governance
principles and institutional guidelines.
4. Oversee and implement projects including sitting in the project’s
implementation committee of the various ongoing projects and drafting and
reviewing project documentations.
5. Manage contracts including drafting, review and negotiating of contracts with
third parties.
6. Prepare and review legal services budgets.
7. Provide legal support across the business in ensuring implementation of
regulatory directives and adherence to regulatory and license obligations.
8. Oversee the provision of legal guidance on contractual obligations during
contract negotiation, drafting and implementation.
9. Implement contract lifecycle and ensure that they are compliant to the set
guidelines.
10. Prepare property lease agreements to ensure contracts are signed on the
scheduled date of transfer.
11. Ensure safe custody of contracts and agreements and track their validity.
12. Prepare Deeds of Lease, Statutory Leases, etc. and ensure safe storage
of this confidential information.
13. Preparation of Gratuity Documents, Deed of Adherence and any other Scheme
documents as may be required
14. Prepare and present daily/weekly/monthly reports to senior management for
decision making.
15. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Knowledge, experience, and qualifications required
Academic & Professional Qualifications/Memberships to professional bodies:
1. A bachelor’s degree in law
2. Advocate of the High Court with a valid practicing certificate
3. Legal Audit and Compliance Certification
4. Corporate Governance professional certification
5. Member of the Law Society of Kenya with a current practicing certificate
Experience Required:
1. At least 2 years’ relevant experience in a similar organisation or busy function
