Summary of the Role:
- Reporting to the Clinic Lead and Laboratory Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and cost-effective testing of patients’ samples to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in compliance with quality management protocols.
- Receive, assess and process specimens and perform laboratory tests accurately and efficiently in accordance with SOPs.
- Perform and document IQC, participate in EQA and monitor laboratory quality indicators.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of results, including prompt communication of critical and abnormal results.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers and reports.
- Ensure proper equipment maintenance, reporting of faults/downtime, and calibration in liaison with the Laboratory Manager.
- Manage laboratory reagents and consumables, including timely ordering, stock monitoring and cost-effective utilization.
- Comply with laboratory safety, infection prevention and quality management requirements.
- Support effective laboratory operations, including specimen referral, handover, staff guidance and timely submission of monthly reports.
Essential and Desirable Criteria:
- A minimum of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.
- Registered by Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board (KMLTTB) and in possession of valid practicing license.
- At least two (2) years’ working experience, preferably in a hospital set up.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality initiatives
- Working knowledge of ISO:15189, JCIA and Safe Care audits will be an added advantage.
