JOB DESCRIPTION
- This role involves preparation of the company’s cash flow and liquidity positions, balance between Account payable demands and Account receivable expectations assist to manage banking relationships, ensure compliance with financial policies, identify financial or liquidity opportunities/risks for planning, and prepares financial reports for management.
- Key duties of this role include daily cashflow monitoring, regular cashflow reporting, bank reconciliations, and completeness/processing of arising outstandings, foreign currency management, as well as contributing to purchasing plans to ensure the company’s financial health and operational efficiency. The role would be expected to be filled by one who would exemplify the company mission and values.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cash & Liquidity Roles – Monitor daily cash/bank balances, forecast and plan cash needs, onboard/process expenditures, and ensure sufficient liquidity to meet financial obligations such as creditors, payroll, regulatory payments, and other company financial commitments.
- Banking – Performa daily bank transaction needs such as onboarding payments, generating and distributing bank statements regularly, establishing a relationship with the bank for the company, ensuring optimal use of funds, and maintaining relationships with financial institutions.
- Bank Reconciliations – Ensure daily accurate and timely bank reconciliation process, provide timely bank statements, identify discrepancies, perform accurate and timely bookkeeping journals to the correct accounts daily to ensure proper accounting for payments and receipts as well as up to date cash position.
- Forex& Interest Rates – Identify competitive foreign exchange and interest rates amid the daily fluctuations and settle on the best option in terms of cost and market risks to the company.
- Capital Expenditure – Work closely with procurement, operations, and finance representatives on capital investment opportunities such as fixed assets. This involves working through capital expenditure committees for best practice approach regarding competitive pricing, credit period negotiations and after sales service guarantees. Challenging procurement and operations on cash decisions with a view to saving on costs is part of the job.
- Financial Reporting – Prepare regular, timely and accurate reports for management on cash flow planning/forecasts, liquidity analysis, and investment performance. Additional financial reporting may also be part of the job.
- Statutory Compliance – Ensure treasury activities comply with statutory regulations such as tax remittances and deadlines, other regulatory requirements and other company policies and procedures. This would include filing of necessary returns for the same.
- Cash/Cost Management initiatives – This would include strategies to limit cash purchases as well as cost management.
- Any other roles as may be required by the line manager or the business.
