ABOUT BROOKHILL
Brookhill Projects Limited is a design-and-build contractor based in Nairobi and registered with the National Construction Authority. Since 2020 we have delivered more than one hundred residential, commercial and fit-out projects, and more than a third of our work is repeat commission from clients we have built for before.
THE ROLE
We are appointing a Site Engineer to one building contract. You will be responsible for the concrete and structural work on site: production and sampling, formwork and reinforcement checks, and setting out for subcontractors. You will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the Site Agent, the QA/QC Manager and the Site Surveyor.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Plan and supervise concrete production and placing, including slump tests and cube sampling.
- Check formwork, reinforcement, cover and cast-in items before every pour, and complete and sign the pour card.
- Keep the cube register with the QA/QC Manager, and follow up every failed result.
- Set out and check work for subcontractors, with the Site Surveyor.
- Read the structural drawings ahead of the work and raise queries with the design team early.
- Present work to the Engineer for inspection at hold points.
- Record daily progress and quantities for the monthly valuation.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You check before you pour. You will hold a pour when the reinforcement is wrong, even with a truck waiting at the gate. Your records are complete enough that anyone can trace a cube result back to the element it came from.
REQUIREMENTS
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Registered, or registrable, with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- At least four years site-based, supervising concrete work on building projects.
- Hands-on experience of pour cards, cube testing regimes, and formwork and reinforcement checks.
- Able to set out with a total station and level.
- Competent in AutoCAD and Excel.
HOW WE HIRE
Shortlisted candidates complete a written assessment, followed by a panel interview. At interview you will take us through your last pour card and the cube regime on that project, so please bring a copy with client details removed.
