VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS
Human Rights Agenda (HURIA) is a rights-based, sub-national not-for-profit organization headquartered on
the Coast of Kenya. Established in 2012, HURIA works to advance human rights, justice, peace, security,
good governance and inclusive development by strengthening citizen agency, community resilience and
institutional accountability.
HURIA works across the six coastal counties of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta,
collaborating with communities, civil society organizations, government institutions, constitutional
commissions, independent offices, academia, development partners and other stakeholders.
HURIA’s programming encompasses human rights monitoring and accountability; access to people-centred
justice; inclusive governance and civic participation; peace, security and community resilience; youth
institutional agency; gender equality and protection; prevention and countering of violent extremism;
community policing and police accountability; research, evidence generation and advocacy.
HURIA is seeking four highly competent, dynamic and results-oriented Project Officers to strengthen its
programme presence and coordination across the Coast region. The Programme Officers will provide
county-level leadership in programme implementation, stakeholder engagement, community
mobilisation, evidence generation, monitoring and reporting, while contributing to the achievement of
HURIA’s broader strategic objectives.
Each Project Officer will be responsible for a one/two-county cluster/s and will be expected to travel
extensively within and across the assigned counties.
