Aberdair Aviation, a dynamic pan-African aviation group which operates both fixed wing and helicopter aircraft from bases in East and West Africa, is looking for a qualified and experienced Head of Quality (AMO) to be based in Nanyuki, Kenya.
Qualifications & Experience
- Holder of an aircraft maintenance engineer’s licence or degree/diploma in aeronautical engineering
- At least seven years’ aircraft maintenance experience, including at least three years within a quality department in the aviation industry
- Successful completion of recognised quality management training
- Successful completion of supervisory or management training
- Recognised aviation internal auditor or lead auditor training
- Current human factors and Safety Management Systems training
- Recognised training in dangerous goods, emergency response planning and safety/occurrence investigation is an added advantage
Key Responsibilities - Establish and maintain an independent AMO quality assurance and compliance monitoring system
- Develop and implement the annual audit programme covering approved AMO procedures, aircraft, personnel, facilities, suppliers, contractors and organisations performing work on behalf of the AMO
- Manage audit findings, root cause analyses and corrective actions, including effectiveness verification and escalation of unresolved non-compliances
- Act as the principal AMO quality liaison with KAA and any applicable foreign civil aviation authorities
- Coordinate AMO certification, renewal, capability expansion, approval variation and regulatory inspection projects
- Maintain controlled AMO manuals, procedures, capability documents and regulatory submissions
- Control certifying staff authorisations and verify personnel competence, training, license validity, experience and recency
- Oversee AMO training governance, competence assessments, KAMEL practical experience and on-the-job training controls
- Audit maintenance data, work packages, technical records, facilities, stores, tooling, calibration and contracted maintenance arrangements
- Evaluate and monitor suppliers, contractors, specialist providers and contracted maintenance organisations
- Independently audit, or arrange the independent audit of, the AMO elements of the corporate Safety Management System administered by the Head of Safety
- Coordinate with the Head of Maintenance (AOC) and Head of Quality (AOC) on continuing airworthiness programmes, maintenance contracts, work-package assurance and regulatory approvals
