  1. About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and highly connected Investment & Fundraising Lead to lead the organisation’s investment strategy, investor engagement, capital mobilisation and fundraising activities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with investors, venture capital firms, private equity firms, development finance institutions, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, institutional investors, banks, strategic partners and other sources of capital.

This is a highly relationship-driven and commercially focused role. The ideal candidate should bring strong investment knowledge, an established investor network and a proven ability to originate opportunities, structure investment propositions and drive fundraising processes from initial engagement through to successful close.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Investment Strategy & Capital Mobilisation

  • Develop and execute AICE’s investment and fundraising strategy.
  • Identify appropriate sources of capital based on the organisation’s investment objectives and funding requirements.
  • Develop investment propositions, funding structures and investor engagement strategies.
  • Identify emerging investment trends, sectors and opportunities relevant to the organisation.
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and provide commercial and investment insights to management.
  • Support the development of investment cases, financial models, investment memoranda and investor presentations.
  • Advise leadership on appropriate funding structures, investment instruments and capital strategies.

Fundraising & Investor Relations

  • Lead fundraising initiatives from investor identification through to negotiation and closing.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective investors.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with investors and capital providers.
  • Proactively engage existing and prospective investors to generate investment interest.
  • Organise and lead investor meetings, presentations, roadshows and fundraising engagements.
  • Coordinate investor enquiries and due diligence information requirements.
  • Develop compelling investment narratives and value propositions tailored to different investor groups.
  • Track fundraising progress, investor commitments and conversion rates.

 

Investor Network Development

  • Build and leverage relationships across venture capital, private equity, family offices, DFIs, institutional investors, impact investors, angel investors, banks and strategic corporate investors.
  • Identify and establish relationships with new investors locally, regionally and internationally.
  • Represent the organisation at investment conferences, forums, industry events and investor meetings.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that can create new sources of capital and investment opportunities.

Deal Origination & Structuring

  • Source potential investment opportunities aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives.
  • Assess investment opportunities from a commercial and strategic perspective.
  • Support deal structuring, valuation, term negotiations and transaction execution.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, technical and other advisers throughout investment transactions.
  • Support due diligence processes and ensure investor requirements are addressed efficiently.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of investment and fundraising opportunities.

Investor Materials & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of investment teasers, pitch decks, investment memoranda, financial models, fundraising proposals, investor reports and due diligence materials.
  • Ensure investment materials are commercially compelling, accurate and investor-ready.
  • Prepare regular reports to senior management on fundraising activities, pipeline, investor engagement and capital raised.

Strategic Advisory

  • Provide senior management with insights on investment markets, investor sentiment and capital availability.
  • Advise on strategies for improving investment readiness and attractiveness.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, co-investments and blended financing.
  • Support the organisation in developing a strong investment proposition and market positioning.

  • Value of capital successfully raised.
  • Number and quality of qualified investors added to the pipeline.
  • Investor conversion rate from engagement to commitment.
  • Number and quality of active investor relationships.
  • Value and quality of investment opportunities originated.
  • The number of investment/deal opportunities successfully progressed.
  • Fundraising pipeline value.
  • Number and quality of investor meetings and engagements.
  • Successful completion of investment transactions.
  • Growth of the organisation’s investor network.
  • Quality and timeliness of investor reporting and due diligence processes.

 

The role will be outcome-driven, with particular emphasis on capital mobilised, quality of investor relationships and investment opportunities converted rather than simply the number of meetings held.

  1. Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Investment Management, Accounting or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in investment, fundraising, capital markets, private equity, venture capital, investment banking, corporate finance or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising and capital mobilisation.
  • Strong existing relationships with investors and capital providers.
  • Proven experience originating and developing investment opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of investment structures, financial analysis and deal processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage investor relationships at senior level.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial and strategic thinking capabilities.

Desirable: CFA, MBA, CPA, ACCA or another relevant professional qualification; experience with VCs, PE firms, DFIs, family offices or impact investors; experience raising capital across African markets; and experience in technology, AI, climate, fintech, healthcare, infrastructure or other high-growth sectors.
