The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for carrying out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and improvement activities for plant machinery and equipment. The role ensures that machines operate reliably, efficiently, and safely while supporting production requirements and minimizing machine breakdowns and downtime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation & execution of preventive maintenance programs for machines and facilities.
  • Ensure plant machines and equipment are in proper working condition to meet production requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs and maintenance to minimize machine breakdowns and downtime.
  • Support the training of machine operators and maintenance personnel on correct mechanical handling, operation, and repair procedures.
  • Participate in the installation, testing, and commissioning of new machines and equipment.
  • Identify and implement mechanical continuous improvement projects for plant machinery, equipment, and structures.
  • Collaborate with the Electrical Team where necessary to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date maintenance records and reports.
  • Ensure all mechanical maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety requirements and company procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing company.
  • Ability to interpret and implement engineering drawings and sketches.

KEY SKILLS

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical engineering and production machinery.
  • Practical experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify mechanical faults and implement effective solutions.
  • Good understanding of preventive maintenance practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work safely and meet required safety standards
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining high equipment and production standards.
