Sales & Customer Success Associate

Full Time
Landela

Landela is an early-stage technology company building its customer base and commercial presence. We are looking for a Sales & Customer Success Associate who can help create a steady flow of relevant opportunities and make sure customers receive strong follow-through from their first conversation with us.

This is a hands-on commercial role. You will prospect for customers, qualify opportunities, participate in sales conversations, coordinate proposals and demos, manage follow-up, support onboarding, and maintain relationships with active customers. You will work closely with company leadership, product, engineering, and operations when customer needs require input from the wider team.

Why this role matters

At our stage, commercial execution is one of the most important constraints on growth. Building good products is not enough if the right customers do not hear about them, opportunities are poorly qualified, or promising conversations lose momentum.

This role will help Landela develop a disciplined approach to finding customers, understanding what they need, converting serious opportunities, and learning from the market. The quality of these conversations will also help shape our products, positioning, pricing, and commercial priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Build pipeline by researching suitable customers, identifying decision-makers, and creating new conversations through outbound outreach, referrals, events, partnerships, and other relevant channels.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding the customer’s problem, urgency, decision process, budget, stakeholders, and whether Landela’s product or service is genuinely a good fit.
  • Own commercial follow-up and keep opportunities moving toward a clear outcome, including meetings, demonstrations, proposals, quotations, internal actions, and agreed next steps.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline information so the team can clearly see active opportunities, stage, value, next action, risks, and expected timing.
  • Support sales meetings and demonstrations, communicate Landela’s offering clearly, and coordinate technical or product input when deeper expertise is needed.
  • Coordinate customer onboarding after a sale, making sure expectations, responsibilities, timelines, access, training, and next steps are clear.
  • Maintain regular contact with active customers, understand how they are using Landela’s products or services, identify risks or expansion opportunities, and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Handle straightforward commercial and customer questions while making sure technical, billing, contractual, or operational issues reach the right owner quickly.
  • Capture objections, recurring customer needs, competitor information, buying patterns, and product feedback, and turn them into useful insights for product, engineering, operations, and company leadership.
  • Track commercial outcomes including qualified opportunities, pipeline progression, conversions, onboarding progress, active customers, retention, and other metrics that help us understand what is working.

Requirements

Experience & qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in B2B sales, business development, account management, customer success, or a similar customer-facing commercial role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Marketing, Sales, Economics, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing prospect or customer relationships through multiple stages, including outreach, qualification, follow-up, meetings, proposals, onboarding, or account management.
  • Experience working toward measurable commercial or customer outcomes rather than only completing sales or support activities.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and follow-through, with the confidence to speak with customers and decision-makers and manage several opportunities at different stages.
  • Able to understand customer problems, learn technology products quickly, communicate value clearly, and know when to involve technical or operational colleagues.

Nice to have

  • Experience selling B2B software, SaaS, digital services, or other technology solutions.
  • Experience using CRM tools and supporting demos, proposals, onboarding, or ongoing customer accounts.
  • Experience working in an early-stage company or developing commercial relationships in the Kenyan market.

What success looks like

  • A consistent flow of relevant prospects and qualified opportunities is entering the pipeline.
  • Good opportunities do not go cold because of missed follow-up, unclear ownership, or lack of a next step.
  • The team has an accurate view of pipeline quality, likely opportunities, risks, and expected commercial outcomes.
  • Customer conversations produce useful information about needs, objections, buying behaviour, competitors, and product gaps.
  • New customers move through onboarding with clear expectations and reach productive use of the product or service without unnecessary friction.
  • Existing customers receive reliable follow-up, important risks are identified early, and appropriate expansion opportunities are surfaced.
  • Commercial activity increasingly becomes repeatable, with a clearer understanding of which customer segments, channels, messages, and approaches produce results.

What this role is

  • A hands-on commercial role spanning new business and customer success
  • Focused on generating opportunities, progressing them, and building strong customer relationships
  • Measured by pipeline quality, commercial progress, customer outcomes, and market learning
  • A high-ownership role in a small team where good execution has visible impact

How this role works

  • You will generate and develop opportunities rather than depend only on inbound leads.
  • You will own day-to-day opportunity follow-up, while unusual pricing, contractual commitments, or significant commercial decisions may require leadership approval.
  • You will remain involved after a sale to help customers onboard successfully and maintain a productive working relationship.
  • You will coordinate with product, engineering, and operations when customer needs require specialist input rather than trying to solve every issue yourself.

How the role may evolve

At Landela’s current stage, sales and customer success are combined so that the person developing a customer relationship also understands what happens after the sale. As the customer base grows, these responsibilities may separate into dedicated sales, account management, partnerships, or customer-success roles.
