ROLE SUMMARY

The role entails repairing metal structures using welding equipment and techniques. It involves interpreting technical drawings, preparing materials, and ensuring high-quality welds while adhering safety

standards and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains machinery components and parts by metal fusion
  • Fabricates designed components
  • Contributes in simple designs as per business needs
  • Carry out welding and fabrication as will be assigned by workshop supervisor from time to time.
  • Should be able to read, interpret and implement engineering drawings.
  • Should be able to carry out welding using MIG, TIG and arch welding.
  • Carry out assessment and develop bill of quantities for specific works.
  • Ensure safe custody of company tools assigned to them
  • Should have good understanding of materials mechanical properties and choice of correct welding rods for a specific tasks.
  • Should be able to Account for all materials issued to him / her to do a particular job.
  • Should be able to continuously Keep abreast with new technologies to improve own skills and competence.
  • Responsible for cascading practical knowledge on welding to mates and apprentices
  • Responsible for the proper use and care of welding equipment and tools in the workshop
  • Should be able to use all workshop tools and other machines and measuring instruments such as calipers and measuring tapes. Interpreting engineering drawings and meet end product standards requirements.
  • Should be able to do repairs to machinery and machine components. Fit and assemble metal parts, tools including brazing of parts.
  • Good knowledge and adherence to safety protocols

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Certificate in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (bias in welding and fabrications operations) or their equivalent
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must work with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge on industrial machinery
  • Supervisory skills
  • Computer CAD knowledge will be added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience in a busy manufacturing / Workshop set up.
