ABOUT THE ROLE

The Market Research & Client Relations Intern will play a hands-on role in supporting Kaya Comfort’s growth strategy. This position focuses on direct client engagement – reaching out to existing and prospective clients via phone and in-person market visits, gathering valuable feedback, and building a structured customer database that will guide our marketing and sales decisions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Outreach & Feedback Collection

  • Conduct structured outbound calls to Kaya Comfort’s existing and prospective clients.
  • Introduce and represent Kaya Comfort’s products and services professionally and confidently.
  • Collect client feedback using prepared questionnaires and conversation guides.
  • Document client responses accurately and promptly after each interaction.
  • Identify client pain points, preferences, and satisfaction levels for internal reporting.

Market Visits & Ground Truthing

  • Conduct in-person visits to key client locations, retail outlets, and target market areas to validate data collected via phone.
  • Observe and document real-world usage, product placement, and client environment to provide ground-level market insights.
  • Engage directly with clients and end-users on-site to deepen understanding of their comfort needs and buying behaviours.

• Cross-reference field observations with phone feedback to identify gaps or inconsistencies in the data.

Prepare concise field visit reports summarising key findings and recommendations.

Customer Database Development

  • Build and maintain a comprehensive, organized customer database using Excel, Google Sheets, or a
    CRM platform.
    Record and update client contact details, interaction history, and feedback notes.
  • Categorize and segment clients based on preferences, location, or purchase history.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all records.
  • Flag high-value leads or clients with specific needs for follow-up by the sales team.

Market Research & Reporting

  • Compile findings from calls and market visits into weekly summary reports for the marketing team.
  • Assist in identifying trends, gaps, and opportunities in the current client base.
  • Support the team in preparing presentations or briefs based on collected market data.
  • Research competitor offerings and market trends as directed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.

Skills & Attributes

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Basic computer literacy – comfortable using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data entry.
  • Eagerness to learn and willingness to work both in the office and in the field.
  • Honest, reliable, and punctual with a positive attitude.
  • Able to follow instructions, take notes, and ask questions when unsure.
  • Comfortable interacting with people – whether on a call or face-to-face at a market.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • How to compare phone-based feedback with what you see on the ground to draw meaningful insights.

Data Management

  • How to build and manage a customer database – organising contacts, interaction history, and feedback.
  • Basic data entry and segmentation skills using Excel or Google Sheets.
  • How to keep records accurate, up to date, and useful for a sales team.

Reporting & Business Communication

  • How to write clear, concise field visit reports and weekly summaries for management.
    How to present market findings in a way that supports business decisions.
  • Exposure to how a sales and marketing team operates within a growing company.
