The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s largest funding organization for cross-
border academic cooperation and the international exchange of students and researchers. Its
members are German universities and their student bodies. Worldwide, 21 Regional Offices and 35
additional locations with Information Centres focusing on Germany as a higher education and
research location make a significant contribution to the DAAD’s international expertise.
The DAAD Regional Office Nairobi is responsible for fostering academic exchange and cooperation
with individuals and institutions of Higher Education in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda,
Southern Sudan, DR Congo and Ethiopia.
The DAAD Office Nairobi is looking for a committed and multi-skilled full-time
Programme Officer (m,f,d)
for study counselling, administration and programme coordination starting as soon as possible. The
position is limited until September 30, 2026, with the option of prolongation with subject to
availability of funds.
Your tasks:
▪ Administration of the In-Country/ In-Region Scholarship Programme
o Preparation, organization and participation in selection procedures and selection
meetings
o Follow-up of the selection results
o Support and advising for the In-Country/ In-Region scholarship holders
o Promoting the IC/IR programme, including attending student fairs, information
seminars
o Partner contacts and networks for the IC/IR programme
▪ Counselling on study and research opportunities in Germany and on DAAD scholarship
programmes
Your profile:
▪ Completed university degree (at least BA); ideally, study experience in Germany
▪ High level of professional and excellent communication skills, including intercultural
sensitivity
▪ Very good knowledge of German and English (spoken and written)

Experience in programme/project management and administration
▪ Analytical skills and the ability to structure and present complex content
▪ Proficiency in standard Office applications
▪ Willingness to travel within Kenya and the region
▪ Be flexible and resilient
▪ Teamworking skills
▪ Residence and work permit in Kenya
Payment is according to the local staff table of the DAAD Regional Office Nairobi. Working conditions
are subject to laws in Kenya (40 hours a week) with a local staff contract. The contract will initially be
limited until September 30, 2026; an option for extension exists and is subject to the availability of
funds.
