Power for the People (PFP) is seeking an experienced and values-driven Regional Programmes Manager to oversee our growing portfolio of community-based programmes across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring quality, accountability, and learning across all projects, while strengthening systems, staff capability, and operational excellence. Based in Kenya, the postholder will report to the CEO (UK) and be part of PFP’s Senior Management Team, providing leadership for programme delivery, compliance, and impact across East Africa.

Responsibilities

The Regional Programmes Manager is responsible for the effective delivery, quality assurance, and learning across all of PFP’s community-based programmes in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This role provides hands-on leadership and operational management of local teams and implementing partners, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with organisational standards and donor commitments.

As a senior member of PFP’s regional management team, the postholder will have delegated authority from the CEO for all programme operations, including staff management, systems, budgets, and compliance. Further detail is provided in the Job Description and Person Specification.

Qualifications

Essential criteria are:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in NGO or related sector work, including significant responsibility for programme delivery, co-ordination or team management.

Demonstrated experience delivering community-based programmes across multiple thematic areas (e.g. WASH, health, education, climate adaptation).

Strong operational management skills, including HR, budget oversight, and systems development.

Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse, remote teams across different countries.

Excellent understanding and practical application of MEL and data-driven learning approaches.

Strong communication skills in English and Kiswahili (written and verbal).
