As we scale into new markets and product categories, we are seeking a seasoned Chief Accountant to steer financial operations through a critical phase of growth and transformation.

Role Summary

The Chief Accountant is responsible for the full financial health of Classic Mouldings. This is a senior leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, strategic insight, and the ability to translate numbers into actionable business decisions.

You will lead budgeting, compliance, reporting, cash flow, tax, procurement oversight, and internal controls while acting as a trusted advisor to the Board and senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Business Planning

  • Advise directors on financial performance, capital allocation, and risk.
  • Lead long-term financial forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis to support business expansion and investment decisions.

Accounting, Reporting & Controls

  • Manage monthly and year-end closures, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements and performance dashboards.
  • Maintain general ledger integrity, reconciliations, and audit trails.
  • Drive improvements in financial processes and enforce strong internal controls.

Tax, Compliance & Payroll

  • Ensure 100% compliance with KRA requirements (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Corporation Tax).
  • Lead tax planning, audits, and communication with external consultants.
  • Oversee payroll, including statutory deductions and casual labor payment compliance.
  • Stay current with tax laws and advise on regulatory risks and opportunities.

Treasury, Cash Flow & Debt Management

  • Monitor daily liquidity and manage short- and long-term working capital.
  • Lead credit control, payment cycles, and supplier settlements.
  • Optimize banking relationships, FX positions, and treasury operations.

Procurement & Job Costing Oversight

  • Provide financial oversight for procurement and contracting decisions.
  • Collaborate with design and project teams to ensure accurate job costing and margin analysis.
  • Approve LPOs, budgets, and supplier payments with compliance to policy.

Inventory & Cost Management

  • Monitor stock movement and valuation of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Support cost control initiatives and margin improvement across product lines.

Team Leadership & Department Management

  • Manage a lean but effective finance team of accountants, clerks, and support staff.
  • Build team capacity through coaching, performance reviews, and upskilling.
  • Instill a results-driven culture grounded in ethics, accuracy, and accountability.

Requirements
Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • CPA(K) or ACCA qualification (mandatory).
  • Additional training in tax, financial modeling, or leadership is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years total experience in accounting and finance.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership or head of finance role.
  • Proven track record in a project-based, multi-transaction environment.
  • Industry experience in manufacturing, design, construction, or logistics is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in handling casual labor payrolls and statutory deductions is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Sage Accounting (or equivalent ERP systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills including financial models, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Strong grasp of KRA iTax systems and Kenyan regulatory frameworks.
