The position
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu (AKHK) is an Institution of the Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya, which is an Agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Hospital is part of a network of health facilities, which includes Hospitals and Outreach Health Facilities across East Africa.
The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is in an exciting growth phase and has attained acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification, ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for laboratory services, Safe Care level 5 accreditation and is at advanced stage of attaining Joint Commission International Accreditation. AKHK has Outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa – Bay, Migori, Bomet, Eldoret, Kimilili, Nyamira and Kabarnet. The Hospital seeks to recruit a professional for the following position:
ACCOUNTANT – BUDGETS AND PLANNING
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Manager – Budgets and Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation, consolidation, and tracking of monthly financial reports and annual budgets to support informed decision-making by Management. The role serves as a critical link in driving financial discipline, transparency, and performance monitoring across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly statistical report,
- Preparation of monthly financial, statistical, newsletters & budget variance reports
- Presentation of Budget variance reports to departmental heads
- Budget preparation for all departments
- Discussion of draft budget with input from Planning and Budgeting manager with departmental heads and program administrators
- Preparation of feasibilities studies for all projects and equipment
- Link with departmental managers to enable them to understand financial and budget processes in line with goals
- Work with departmental managers to map out overall pricing strategy.
- Prepare weighted costs schedule for all departments
- Costing of services and preparation of packages
- Prepare and analyse monthly/weekly/daily BVR for different Head of Departments.
- Monthly review the activities of grants and advise Budget & Planning manager on the key recommendations.
- Participate in all team efforts as departmental needs arise.
The requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration or related degree.
- Certified Public Accountant CPA (K) or ACCA.
- At least three (3) years of progressive working experience in accounting.
- Computer literate and conversant with computerized accounting packages.
